Gee Baby I Love You.

We are a well established semi-pro band, available for social events, from pubs and clubs to weddings, corporate functions, festivals and private parties.

Having formed in 1986 from the remnants of a jazz/funk outfit "Pure Motivation", we've now evolved into the current line-up, comprising of nine musicians, that have been stable for the last eight, or so years. Fronting the band is the wildly charismatic "J.O." who's distinctive guitar playing and powerful vocals are complemented by the wonderful vocals of "Cherie" who also takes the spotlight on a number of tunes. Driving the band is "Joe 90" on drums and "Ricky T" on bass, many years together have made them one of the tightest rhythm sections around. The melodies are provided by "Roger" on keyboards, - as the only "Full time Pro" in the band, there are times when his diary clashes with ours, on these dates we are joined by the "Crazy Fingers" of Colin Smith.

Then, we come to the infamous "GeeBaby Horn Section", almost a show in their own right, Martyn "Hot Lips" Harries on trumpet, "Savio" on trombone, "Chiff" on tenor sax and "Nick" on alto sax. - For more info on the "band members", click the link below.

The early years were spent on the south and south west circuits, "Tuning" our skills and developing our reputation for reliability and professionalism, before long we were playing all over the U.K. and occasionally Europe. We've played at a number of festivals, - Womad, Trowbridge folk, Bristol Harbour, Ashton Court, The Newt Beer festival, to name but a few. During this time we also had the pleasure of either supporting, or touring with, the likes of James Brown, Maceo Parker, The James Taylor quartet and Jools Holland's big band, amongst others.

We've also been involved in T.V., from documentaries and interviews, on regional T.V. to national broadcasts on BBC 1, BBC 2, ITV and channel 4. - this has led to us playing at several "secret" celebrity weddings, - the bands motto is "Passion and Respect" so we won't mention any names. And Yes! we also received the request that everyone dreams of - "Buckingham Palace" - again, we can't say too much, but a great time was had by all. - click the "What others say about us" link below, for more info.

Over the years we have developed a very loyal following, but, most of the dates we play are either private or corporate, so we try to arrange to play a public event every 2-3 months, this enables our fans to hear our latest tunes and see the current stage antics. Due also to this, we decided, that a "Gig Diary" page, would be a bit pointless, as 90% of the dates would be "invitation" only, so we came up with the "Backstage" page, (See link below) here, you will find as much info - that we can publish, about any dates and events we are involved with.

At last we've been able to add a sound page to the site, if you click the "Our Sound" link, you'll be able to hear us.
